If you work from home, for instance, your love life or expression has to be redefined. In fact, you may need to spend more time with the kids. Life is no longer the same.

In today’s complex world, you must “adjust” and learn how to be a great spouse. To be relevant, you must upgrade, even in marriage. Everything is shifting.

Many things have not returned to how they used to be before COVID-19. Career paths and dreams have been redefined. Marriages have been affected. There is disruption everywhere. AI is taking over.

However, the Word of God remains the same and must still be our compass. Disruption cannot affect God and His principles.

Matthew 24:35: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

Here is a possible scenario: a husband loses his job to AI, and then his wife fortunately secures a good one with an international company. Wouldn’t she gladly give her best at work to support her home, while her husband takes care of the kids at home – depending on their agreement or plan, though?

If the man can spend his wife’s money, then he should be man enough to help out in the kitchen too.

I mean, teamwork!

Marriage teamwork is a feeling of togetherness, mutual support, and unity on multiple fronts, including finances, parenting, chores, sex, and emotional intimacy. It is ungodly for a spouse to choose not to assist his or her partner with house chores when they are available.

Hey man, house chores won’t make you less of a man. Real men support their wives in every area.

The Gen Zs should better wake up and be multifaceted in the Word of God and in love, as rules are changing and the game is being revamped. They should learn to give rather than receive. Selfishness is a major issue in marriage today.

The renewed man who is intentional about his marriage is blessed!

Ephesians 5:25-29: Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.

After COVID, so many people made adjustments in their businesses, careers, and dreams but did nothing about their marriages.

For some, it is a case of malice and arguments:

“Do for me, then I will do for you.”

“Forgive me, then I forgive you.”

“Don’t forgive me, then I won’t forgive you.”

“Don’t do for me, then I won’t do for you.”

These are very common among spouses and are really very childish.

A man has the responsibility to love his wife as Christ loves the imperfect church without complaining. This is a high calling for men. A good marriage is hard work.

Ephesians 5:33: “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”

A woman as well should avoid nagging but love and honor her man.

Today’s Scripture: Colossians 3:18-19

“Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.”

Prayer

  1. Thank God for your spouse and ask for the grace to support and honor each other.
  2. Pray that the Lord would strengthen you and help you adjust where necessary.
